The misty air flows through me
With every lingering breath
But my fingers continue to be
Numb as if I had faced death
To my left, to my right I see
A stream of people passing by
Human beings who’ve lost humanity
Creatures living only to die
Staring out to space, I wonder
About what this world still hides
What still is hidden in its slumber
Dreaming of the never-ending tides
Street lamps now are lighting up
Guiding people passing by
A warm, comforting light envelopes
Their hearts with each goodbye
People, now few, still walk the street
Wary of the empty darkness
Going as fast as their trodding feet
would travel, hoping for the best
Dawn is coming, bringing hope
I scamper and then I hide
With this tomorrow, I cannot cope
For all that remains is pride
The once midnight sky is now
starting to hide the stars
My beloved night bestows somehow
It’s crown to the daylight avatar
I peek from the shadow’s haven
Wondering what this day will hold
Perhaps it’s time to move again
Towards the light, where truth be told
The misty air flows through me
With every lingering breath
Without the darkness, I now see
With a vision free from death
